S70 Quick Hitch — Mid-Size Excavator Standard

Not sure which hitch you have? Use the finder

S70 is the standard fitted to mid-size excavators in the 16–25 tonne class — the next step up from the universal S60. Common S70 carriers include the Volvo EC220, CAT 320 (some variants) and 322, JCB 220X, Komatsu PC210LC, Hitachi ZX225, Liebherr R 920, and Doosan DX225. Pin diameter is 70 mm with bracket geometry sized for the heavier hydraulics and longer reach of mid-size machines.

Attachments pinned to S70 are heavier — 400–600 kg buckets, 580 kg breakers (GORE V6), 620 kg grapples — and they’re built to handle the higher hydraulic flows (90–140 L/min) that S70 carriers provide. Typical applications: heavy site prep, demolition, road construction, larger forestry operations, and aggregate handling. We stock a focused S70 range — every category has at least one S70 option, weighted toward GORE premium given the duty cycle of these machines.

FAQ

S70 common questions

Which excavators use S70?
S70 is standard for most 16–25 tonne mid-size European excavators including the Volvo EC220, CAT 322, JCB 220X, Komatsu PC210LC, Hitachi ZX225USLC, Liebherr R 920, and Doosan DX225LC. Some Liebherr and CAT models bridge S70/S80 — check the spec sheet or use our Quick Hitch Finder.
Can S60 attachments be used on an S70 machine?
Not directly — the pin diameter is wrong (50 mm vs 70 mm). S60 attachments are also typically too light for an S70 carrier’s hydraulic output, which can cause operating issues. Our workshop can re-pin S60 brackets to S70 if the attachment’s structural rating is sufficient — call us for case-by-case advice.
What hydraulic flow do S70 attachments need?
Most S70 attachments are sized for 90–140 L/min — the typical aux flow on a 16–25 tonne carrier. The GORE V6 breaker, for example, runs at 90–140 L/min and 140–180 bar. Always cross-check your machine’s hammer-circuit spec before ordering.
